TLC License Renewal Application Process

 Complete TLC Education and Training

   2. NYSDMV 6 hour Defensive Driving Course
2. Drug Test

It is important to follow the process step by step and the DTA can provide one stop assistance to help drivers who have difficulty to follow.

TLC License Application Requirement

1. Above 19 years old and must have a valid Social Security Number
2. A valid DMV Chauffeur’s license – Class A, B, C, or E
3. DMV Abstract (for out of state DMV licenses only): An original out of state driver record that is dated no more than 90 days from the date the application is filed online.
4. No fines or fees owed to NYS DMV or TLC
5. No more than 5 points on your DMV license within a 15 month period back from your most recent violation date when applying or renewing
6. For renewal, applicants have up to 90 days to renew before your license expires
7. Expired license can be renewed by completing all renewal requirements within 180 days of expiration date

TLC License Application Process

1. E Class DMV License
   1. NY State DMV:Class D license needs to be replaced with Class E, other classes do not need to be replaced (Driver’s license from other states not required to change, but required to provide local driving records.)
2. Apply TLC License Number
   1. Visit TLC website www1.nyc.gov/lars/ for online submission of applications.
3. Complete TLC Education and Training
   1. Finish TLC regulated education at TLC approved schools, AA DTC
      1. 24 Hour Driver’s Education course
      2. Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Training
      3. NYSDMV 6 hour Defensive Driving Course
4. Drug Test

   1. Schedule an appointment at http://www.identogo.com

6. Physical Examination
   1. Get the form at http://on.nyc.gov/2XdSHX6
   2. Required an signature of MD or DO on the examination form, and
      upload to TLC website
7. Schedule Exam
   1. After completing the 24 hours course, PSI Exam center will send out a confirmation letter to your email. Then you can schedule the exam by calling 833-892-5440 on the phone or registering on the PSI website.
